Accommodation in Odeceixe:

The Ashtanga Yoga Intensive is a non residential Yoga course and students are asked to book their own accommodation. If you are staying around the shala close to Odeceixe village, you can easily walk or bicycle to the shala, shops, beach and restaurants.

You can choose from a great variety of accommodation..Airbnb houses and apartments, little cute motels, guesthouses and campsites (different budgets and needs). Praia de Odeceixe beach is 3 km from the Odeceixe village if someone want to stay at the little beach village. On the high season there is a sightseeing train moving between the village and beach every half hour.
If you are staying at the Odeceixe village, you will have maximum 5 minutes walk to the Yoga Shala from any location.

These are the recommendations for the guesthouses and other accommodations as soon as we will have reviews from the students.

Here is a list of the lower budget (around 50€ + / night) Guest houses. There are much more, but we are not yet familiar will all of them. All the Guest houses in the list are close to the Yoga Roots ODX shala. If you are having a car, you can easily book an accommodation from the other villages or closer to the sea or nature.

Individual reviews from our students:

Casa Morais (by Katja)

I stayed at bed and breakfast Casa Morais which I liked very much as it was cosy, clean and warm friendly service. Good location on a quiet street close to the shala. Nice room, big bathroom and a shared big balcony with other gests. Good breakfast with flexible timing. We did not have a common language as the 90 year old very friendly and seemingly much younger owner spoke only Portuguese, but we managed well anyway.

SulSeixe Guesthouse (by Stephanie)

Sulseixe Guesthouse (beside the church, 3 minutes walk to the Shala) is a nice guesthouse. They have simple, modern rooms with private bath, all brand new and very clean and they also rent out an apartment with a kitchen. The owner Patricia is very friendly and helpful. She lives in the same building with her family. You can book it privately from the owner (cheaper) or by agencies.

Cottage in Caixa Postal (by Cora)

This is one of several small cottages that are adorable and self sufficient w/heat and kitchens and bathrooms.

It is located across the river from the Odeceixe entry.

A 6 minute drive to the shala (2 km).

They permit pets.

I took my 2 cats there.

The land/garden is very beautiful and relaxing, with a lake (I think one can swim in it) and view of the river.

There were 2 donkeys, chickens, a pig, and outdoor cats, on the property when I was there last October.

The owner, Isabelle, is on site.

She is very friendly and chill, speaking português, english, francais and maybe norwegian.

I will go back.

Casa Clara (by Nat)

Clean, close to Shala (3 min walk), with a cute balcony

Al Odeceixe Verde (by Luisa).

It’s a B&B very clean and comfortable, 2 minutes walk from the shala.

Big breakfast included with the room.

The only point for long stay is that the kitchen is open only for the staff, so if you’d like to cook your own food it’s not possible there. Then the owner is friendly and helpful for any special need.

Villaceixe  (by Susan)

There are 2 properties. I stayed in the 1 bed. It was very clean, reasonable and close to the yoga studio. I would stay there again.

Hostel Seixe (by Sophia)

Close to the Shala, kitchen to cook, nice people and cheap.
