There is no yoga on Saturdays – you can rest and relax at the resort or join us on a day trip. On Wednesdays we will have morning yoga, a day trip and an evening yoga film.
On moondays (full or new moon mornings will be mentioned during the retreat), we will have an optional Mysore Style practice or special lighter yoga class.
The retreat accommodation will be on two resorts next to each other. Savanna Resort (T-type, S-type, J-type and V-type) and Koh Mak Resort (B-type and F-type). Both resorts has swimming pool with sun bathing beds and restaurants. Yoga shala and dining room are located on the Koh Mak resort’s side, but are actually in the middle of the two resorts. These resorts used to be one and same, but they got split in 2013. Yoga students are allowed to use both resort’s services.
All Seavana and Koh Mak resort bungalows have A/C, a TV and a personal toilet and shower, minibar and refrigerator, with 24-hour power and water supply for all standards. Mosquito screens and nets are on the windows, on the beds or available at the resort. Excellent sea views all around.
Internet connection is free wifi on both resorts. The connection can be slow and down when it is windy. It works better closer to the restaurants. Some other resorts might have faster and better connections, so when the internet is slow or down at the retreat area, you won’t be without internet in the whole island. Some people has been using internet modem with sim card which they bought from Bangkok and it’s been working well any time.
Double bed = king size bed with one mattress (160 cm) or two mattresses attached (2 x 80cm).

Accommodation at other Resorts for Drop In students
Koh Mak island offers a wealth of accommodation options to choose from. Seavana Resort and Koh Mak Resort are the official resorts for the retreat, but the island has about 40 other resorts, providing a wide range in terms of standards and prices. Please check our Drop In prices from the Prices and How to Pay page. It is easy to get to the resort and Yoga shala from any of the resorts by bicycle, scooter, taxi or even by foot.
The island is relatively small and moving around is simple and pleasant, as there is almost no traffic and distances are short. We recommend using a scooter or bicycle if you are staying at other resorts (if not in Suchanaree, Happy Day Resort, Coco Cape, Good Time Resort or Thaidaho Vista Resort which are within 10-15 min walking distance). Bicycle rental fees are about 4-5€/day and a scooter is 8-9€/day. Renting for longer amounts of time, one gets a discount of 1-2€/day.
Please check www.kohmak.com, www.koh-mak.com, or www.kohmakguide.com. Information can also be found at www.agoda.com, www.booking.com and www.tripadvisor.com.
The lower-key places (7-8€/night) are probably not on the all resort guide lists. One of them, located along the most beautiful beach is Baan Ing Kao www.baaningkao.com. For staying in Baan Ing Kao you will need a scooter or bicycle. Walking distance to the Yoga shala is about 30 min. Next to Baan Ing Kao is Marey Beach Resort but with higher rates. Other about same standard as Baan Ing Kao is Islanda Hut and it is much closer (walking distance), but doesn’t have the same amazing views. A bit further you can find Pano Resort and Sea View Resort with about 20€/night.
The most commonly used Resorts for Drop In students are the closest ones; Happy Day Resort, Coco Cape Resort, Good Time Resort, Thaidaho Vista Resort, Prompakdee Koh Mak Resort (old Suchanaree Resot), Baan Koh Mak, Islanda Hut and Sky Beach Resort.
It is good to book the resorts early as they get quickly fully booked. Better to call or email straight to the resorts to get the newest and cheapest deals. Through the dealers they are always more costly.
Other popular Resorts has been Koh Mak Ao Kao Resort (White Sand Beach), Ao Pong Resort, Green View Resort, Bamboo Hideaway Resort, Tay-la Time Resort, Islanda Resort, Makathanee Resort and Monkey Island Resort. There is also Thai-style two floor houses available, which can accommodate many people. Check also Airbnb.com! Good luck for searching!
Best party places has become Reverside Resort and Banana Sunset Resort..if you want to avoid noise or want to meet party people : )

Older children can join to canoeing trips, swim with snorkel or play football or other games on the grass or at the island’s (only) football field. Information for families and non-yogi friends:
We can accommodate family members or friends who do not practice yoga only if we will have space at the resort. If the retreat is fully booked, the extra beds are available, meaning two members who practice yoga and one non-yogi on the extra bed. All our 24 bungalows/ houses are reserved for people who will be participating in the yoga program. The rooms are quite small for three adults, so we recommend to check the other resort on the island. There is plenty of other resorts in the island and the distances are short. It will be easy to stay with non-yogi friends in the other resort and join to the Drop In yoga program at Koh Mak Resort. Then yoga can be paid as a separate payment in Drop In way (check the prices below). Minimum attendance for Drop-in yoga is three days.
